More than 20 workshops allow us to develop recycling

Within the framework of Chantier Solidaire, the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau offers you the chance to discover and participate in all the jobs linked to recycling and restoring objects: collecting them from the public, sorting them, repairing them, and finally re-selling them to the public.

Rougly 20 workshops allow the 130 members of the Community to live without financial aid. The alternatives developed by the Community allow these men and women, who have effectively been 'broken' by life, to be given a clean slate and start afresh, giving them the chance to become citizens again.

Furthermore, the hard work put into each workshop allows the Community to develop its utopias. These different workshops include:

• An alternative farm
• Eco-construction (renovating the Village)
• Committed culture, in the form of an annual music festival at the end of July (during which stimulating events are also held).
• Welcoming visitors and their unwanted items at the Recycling workshop
• Collecting unwanted items from the homes of the public, as part of the Community's free pick-up service

• Book-sorting
• Engineering
• Bike repairing
• Metal/Iron workshop
• Woodwork
• Scrap metal workshop
• Decorating
• Clothes and accessories
• IT and Electronics
• Household appliances/electro domestic
• Tapestry
• Retail/sales in bric-a-brac

• Working in the kitchen
• Office work
• Working at the reception desk in the Wagon
• Housekeeping

As part of Chantier Solidaire, you will be invited to sign up to a different workshop each day. During your stay, you will be involved in every workshop, in order to try all our activities and appreciate our dynamic.
