Ever since the birth of the Emmaus Community of Lescar/Pau in 1982, young people have been invited to take part in support activities

From the beginning of its creation in 1982, the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau has busied itself with welcoming young people into the summer Youth Camps. The Youth Camps work just as well within the Community as they do elsewhere, in neighbouring towns of Béarn or Bigorre: Orthez, Oloron-Ste-Marie, Tarbes...

For more than 15 years, Emmaüs Lescar-Pau has organised and run Youth Camps for all the hosting Communities in France. As a result, within 20 or so Communities, 450 or more young people from all over the world have been expected each year.

At the end of 2009, we at the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau, decided to give a new opening to these Youth Camps. We hope to make you even more aware of the new alternatives that we put into practice, daily: recycling and salvaging unwanted goods, restoring these items, developing the farm, opening up the eco-construction workshop, promoting committed culture and offering unconditional welcome to others.

We want you, the youth of today, to be able to discover and participate in the creation of new alternatives. We expect you to arrive with a purpose and an analytical mind, so that we can evolve new social, political and economic projects.

Since June 2010, the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau has created its own Chantier Solidaire, so that you can assert yourself in a real alternative: utopia has become a daily reality.
