For the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau, organising Chantier Solidaire is a committment shared by everyone. The arrival of new members is always eagerly anticipated.
Each one of the 20 workshops frees up places in order to welcome the new members. Each one offers new projects to liven up the summer activity.
In each workshop, participants are invited to take over a position in their own right: discovering a new craft, learning new rules...each workshop functions on the principal of exchanging skills and expertise. Even if you are in a discovery phase, your views and questions are shared with us. This allows us to question ourselves and make further discoveries.
The Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau doesn't just seek profit; it places human relations at the centre of everything. However, that doesn't mean to say that a lack of competence and good work ethic will get the job done. The working hands of each man or woman have a value that the Community always tries to encourage. The know-how of each individual is fundamental, so that these men and woman become solid members of society.
Each day, depending on their availability, you can choose which workshop you would like to try. Over the course of your stay in the Community, you will discover how different each job is. Even the smallest jobs are given high recognition, because they all work towards recycling unwanted goods, thus giving them a new life and avoiding waste. In this way, it's also possible for families to afford to buy things at a much lower cost.
The Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau promises to give you a warm welcome. In exchange for your participation in the activities mentioned earlier, you are given food and accommodation.
Similarly, if you'd like to participate, the Community will include you in the debates, which are held regularly. We are interested in your views. Your involvement allows us to build the Communauté Emmaüs of tomorrow.
