Once a week, in the evening, you are invited to take part in debates about certain issues in society.
In 2010, this is how several evenings were spent:
*Finding out about the Emmaüs movement, particularly about the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau
*Meeting with a beekeeper, and finding out about the role of bees in our environment.
*The presentation of local agricultureand farming, given by Jean-Louis Campagne, farmer and president of the C.I.V.A.M.; Philippe Claverie, organic producer, and Fabienne from the Bibane farm.
*Showing of the film "L'assiette sale", by director Denys Pinigre, before the Emmaüs Lescar-Pau Festival in 2010. (The film was the subject of the conference-debate.)
* African Evening: the young people of Chantier Solidaire 2009, who left for Burkina Faso, gave an account of their stay, in August 2010.
The weekend is a time for group or individual activities. For the former, the Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau provides all the necessary supplies and transport, while the latter are left to the individual to organise.
*Group activities are chosen together. A favourite activity among the young people of Chantier Solidaire is usually an outing to the beach or to the mountains.
*In the evenings, as a group decision, members of Chantier Solidaire can sign up for different local events, such as the ball on the 14th of July, or the music evenings held at a nearby lake, 'Lac des Carolins de Lescar'. (Fridays)
*Members of Chantier Solidaire can take part in festival activities, which require group co-operation. In 2010, a group of five members of Chantier Solidaire got involved in the Sports fair in Lescar. Another team made a raft for "Touskiflot", to go down the mountain stream in the Pyrenees, between Jurançon and Laroin.
* The Communauté Emmaüs Lescar-Pau also organises its own events and celebrations, much like the village festivals or themed evenings.
